- This cemetery was founded in 1817 as the cemetery for Christ Church,but became known as Congressional Cemetery because of the number of politicians buried here.

Emile Berliner (5/20/1851 - 8/3/1929) - He invented a carbon microphone transmitter which became part of the first Bell telephones, as well as a gramophone which used a flat, rather than a cylindrical, disk.  He first registered the painting of Nipper, who is portrayed  listening to "His Master's Voice," as a trademark in the United States; it is still used in one form or another by RCA;
Charles Corby - the inventor of Wonderbread;

Charles Jenkins - television pioneer;
Upton Sinclair - author, Noble Prize winner;
